Sequel to Batman: Arkham Shadow Potentially in the Works

Excitement is building in the Batman gaming community as a potential sequel to Batman: Arkham Shadow has reportedly been leaked. The news comes ahead of the VR game’s first anniversary and hints at a continuation of the critically acclaimed story developed by Camouflaj, an Oculus Studios subsidiary based in Bellevue, Washington.

🎮 Background on Batman: Arkham Shadow

Released in October 2024, Batman: Arkham Shadow quickly became a standout VR title, earning a Mighty rating on OpenCritic, with an average score of 86 and a perfect 100% reviewer recommendation rate. By February 2025, the game had surpassed 1 million players, making it one of the fastest-growing big-budget VR titles in recent history.

This strong reception and widespread acclaim have set the stage for a potential sequel that could expand the Arkham VR universe even further.

🎭 Key Talent Returning

Mark Rolston, the Hollywood veteran who plays Commissioner Gordon in Arkham Shadow, hinted at the sequel during an interview at Fan Expo Chicago 2025. Rolston, who performed motion capture, voice acting, and full performance capture for the original game, shared cryptically:

“We’re about to start another one of those; I play Commissioner Gordon.”

This strongly suggests that players can expect Rolston’s return in the next VR installment.

⏳ When Could the Sequel Arrive?

While an official release date has not been announced, the game’s rapid player growth and critical success make a sequel highly plausible. With Oculus Studios likely managing development, the follow-up is expected to remain exclusive to Meta VR headsets, ensuring a continued focus on immersive virtual reality experiences.

Separately, Rocksteady has also been reported to return to the Batman franchise with a single-player project, though details are scarce, and it is unclear if it will tie into the existing “Arkhamverse.”
