Donkey Kong Bananza initially started as a Nintendo Switch game. During development, producer Kenta Motokura and director Kazuya Takahashi realized that the ambitious game mechanics would be limited by the original Switch’s hardware. To bring their vision to life — especially the “continuity of destruction” where players permanently change the game world — they moved the project to Nintendo Switch 2.
