Marvel Rivals Unleashes Marvel Zombies PvE Mode This October

The heroes of Marvel Rivals are about to face their most terrifying threat yet — the undead.

NetEase Games has officially announced a collaboration between Marvel Rivals and the hit Disney+ series Marvel Zombies, introducing the game’s first-ever PvE Horde Mode. The new event will drop on October 23, bringing a wave of Halloween content, exclusive boss fights, and limited-time cosmetics.

🕸️ The First PvE Mode in Marvel Rivals

So far, Marvel Rivals has been known primarily for its fast-paced hero-versus-hero gameplay. But with this new Marvel Zombies-inspired update, players will finally get a player-versus-environment (PvE) experience.

In this mode, teams of four will face endless waves of zombie enemies drawn straight from the Marvel Zombies universe. The event even features powerful boss encounters with undead versions of iconic characters like:

  • 🧜‍♂️ Zombie Namor

  • 👑 The Queen of the Dead

While it’s not yet clear how long the event will run, the new mode launches just in time for Halloween — and early footage promises a chaotic, fast-paced survival experience unlike anything else in Marvel Rivals.

⚔️ Playable Heroes in the Zombie Mode

Not every character from Marvel Rivals can be used in the new mode. Instead, the undead apocalypse calls for a specific lineup of heroes suited for close-quarters combat and crowd control.

Players can choose from:
- Magik
- Jeff the Land Shark
- Blade
- The Punisher
- Thor

Each of these heroes will have unique abilities designed to handle hordes of enemies, adding fresh tactical depth to every wave. Teams of four players can band together to survive as long as possible against the undead threat.

🎃 Halloween-Themed Rewards and Cosmetics

The update isn’t stopping with the new game mode. According to NetEase’s latest roadmap, Marvel Rivals will also feature a Halloween event packed with themed goodies.

Players can unlock spooky seasonal costumes for:
- Jeff the Land Shark
- Peni Parker
- Scarlet Witch
- Spider-Man

Between new heroes, limited-time skins, and the long-awaited PvE mode, Marvel Rivals fans have plenty to look forward to this October.

🕹️ A Growing Game with Cross-Progression Coming Soon

Currently in Season 4, Marvel Rivals recently added Angela and Daredevil to its hero lineup. Looking ahead, NetEase confirmed that cross-progression will arrive in Season 5 — allowing players to seamlessly switch platforms while keeping their cosmetics, rewards, and progress intact.

It’s a long-requested feature that players have been eager for since the game’s launch in December 2024.

🧩 Final Thoughts

The addition of the Marvel Zombies PvE mode marks an exciting evolution for Marvel Rivals. It brings a darker, more cooperative element to the hero shooter — and perfectly fits the Halloween season.

Between the new Marvel Zombies event, upcoming cross-progression, and a flood of cosmetic rewards, it’s clear that Marvel Rivals is gearing up for its most content-packed stretch yet.
