NBA 2K26 MyCareer lets you experience life as an NBA superstar, including the ability to switch teams. However, the game does not include a traditional trade system. Like NBA 2K25, you cannot request a trade mid-season or at the end of a season in the usual sense.

This limitation is intentional, as Visual Concepts wants to prevent players from switching teams too freely and disrupting the balance of MyCareer mode.

🔑 How to Change Teams in NBA 2K26 MyCareer

Although there’s no direct trade feature, you can change teams after completing specific conditions in your first season:

1. Complete the Season
- Finish the key games in your current season.
- You can simulate other games if you want to save time, but the key matches must be played to unlock the opportunity to switch.

2. Complete the Offseason
- After the season ends, you can enter the offseason and participate in optional FIBA games if you like.
- Speak with Xander to finalize the first season and move into the next. This will trigger free agency and allow team changes.

Once free agency is available:

• View all teams: You’ll see a complete list of NBA squads open for recruitment.

• Analyze rosters: Check depth charts for your position to ensure a strong chance of starting.

• Consider salary: Your virtual currency (VC) earnings are displayed for each team, helping you make informed decisions.

Confirm your choice, and you’ll officially start playing for a new team in MyCareer.

⚠️ Note: Switching teams will reset your Dynasty progress. You’ll start with a clean slate at your new team, so choose wisely.
