PS5 September 2025 System Update Brings New DualSense Feature and Power Saver Mode

Sony has officially announced that a new PlayStation 5 system update will roll out on September 17, 2025, bringing with it some handy new features for gamers. The update includes multi-device pairing for the DualSense controller and a Power Saver mode designed to cut down on the console’s energy consumption.

🎮 DualSense Controller Multi-Device Pairing

One of the most requested quality-of-life updates is finally here: the ability to pair your DualSense controller across multiple devices at once.

Previously, PS5 owners had to re-pair their controller every time they switched between console, PC, or mobile. Now, the system update allows up to four devices to be registered simultaneously.

To set this up:

1. Disconnect the USB cable from your DualSense.

2. Hold the PS button and one of the face buttons (✖, ◼, ▲, ○) to open the pairing menu. 3. Assign the controller to a connected device.

This new addition should make life much easier for players who frequently switch between platforms.

⚡ New Power Saver Option

Another welcome change is the introduction of a Power Saver mode, which scales back system performance to lower the PS5’s energy usage. While it won’t drastically change gameplay, it gives players more control over how much power their console consumes.

To install the update (if it doesn’t auto-download):
- Go to Settings → System → System Software → System Software Update and Settings.

🔊 Other PS5 Updates This Year

Sony has sprinkled in a few noteworthy updates in 2025:
- April 2025 → Added the Audio Focus feature, letting players boost specific types of in-game audio.
- July 2025 → Released a stability patch to improve overall performance.

While smaller, these incremental updates show Sony’s continued commitment to refining the PS5 experience nearly five years after launch.

📅 What’s Next for PlayStation?

Beyond system updates, PlayStation fans may soon have even more to get excited about. Insider reports suggest Sony could host a new State of Play event later in September, potentially showcasing games like Marvel’s Wolverine.

Rumors point to September 24 or 25 for the broadcast, though nothing has been confirmed yet. As always, take speculation with a grain of salt until Sony makes an official announcement.

✅ Final Thoughts

The September 2025 PS5 update may not completely change how you use your console, but the DualSense multi-device pairing and Power Saver mode are highly practical features that improve everyday usability. With PS5 sales topping 80 million units worldwide, Sony continues to fine-tune the console while fans eagerly await news of upcoming exclusives.
